To minimise stress in the event of an emergency while you are travelling, we suggest you:
Stay informed about the country you are visiting. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) website Smart Traveller provides valuable up to date information for Australian travellers on a list of countries, and any recent events that could disrupt your travel plans. Take the time to register your travel plans so should something happen relevant government authority will be able to contact you or your family.
Visit a Travel Doctor for any vaccinations you may require.
Keep a copy of the policy booklet, proof of eligibility (eg, current credit card statement, credit card statement showing your travel purchase), itinerary and passport details in a safe place and additional copies that can be accessed by someone back home.
